Question on a baby goat?
I have a baby goat who is 2 weeks old.
My neighbors nanny had 3 and did'nt want this one. She has trouble standing up because her front legs look bowed alittle and she acts like there weak and stiff. She won't get up and play like most baby goats. And because her legs are like this she will just lay and pee on her self. If I stand her up she will squat and pee but after a few steps she falls again. I called a vet and they said give her a bose shot and within a few days I should see a improvment that was 2 days ago and I don't see no improvment. Also she won't nibble in grass or nothing she just wan't the bottle of milk. Do you know what mcould be wrong with her? Or how long the bose might take to work or if it will? Or if there is anything els to give her? Also If you have ever had a goat like this or with messed up legs please let me know what you did for it. Thanks so much
What are you feeding this baby goat? If you're using a milk replacer, stop using it immediately! That stuff is a total waste of money. I have never had a kid goat survive on that stuff! Go to a store and buy a jug of whole milk. Also, give the bose a little more time to work. In the meantime, you could also give your kid goat a nutri-drench. That will help to give her a boost.
Have you taken her temperature? Normal body temperature for a goat is 101.5*F to 103.5* F. If it has a subnormal temp, it is in critical need of vet care.
Kid goat legs will have a bowed look to them. I don't think the legs are the problem here. It sounds like your goat is just too weak to stand.
