Registering a product online... what does it do? is it the same as returning a product?
I have this Bose product I got as a gift but unfortunatley only 2 months after I got them the speakers blew out and they don't work as loud as they used to. I obviously don't have the receipt so I can't return it to a Bose Store but what does registering do? like will I be able to get a replacement if I register it online? and if you also don't mind explaining what registering a product does that would help me for future goods. Registering allegedly gives the manufacturer your name and address in case they need to contact you for any recalls or safety issues about your product.
In reality, it gets your name and contact information on their mailing list so they can send you advertisements about all their other products.
It *does* provide proof of when you bought their product -- but your receipt serves the same purpose.
