Bose Wave or other make - which is best?
I'm in the market for a compact music system, the Bose Wave would be ideal but gets really mixed reviews, is it worth the money? I need small and simple.
I've owned a Bose Acoustic Wave system for nearly a decade, and have been perfectly satisfied with it. For me, it is ideal to have a music system that I just plug in and turn on, without messing around with equalizer settings or hooking anything up. The sound separation is good enough to enjoy the complexity of classical music, the speakers will crank loud enough for head-banging metal when the mood strikes.
Some people do not like that the sound cannot be customized at all ... there are no equalizer settings, nor is there any way to increase/decrease treble or bass. Also, the quality/fullness of the sound depends somewhat on WHERE in the room you put it. And, yes, you definitely pay more simply for the Bose name.
If you are still not sure, consider buying a Bose system from a store like Best Buy, which has a 30-day return policy for stereo equipment with no restocking fee; instead, of buying from an online store.
