The Bose Wave iPod system had integrated components that act as moderators or in the industry, what is called compression, limiters and peak controls. Compression smooths out the sound so that it is balanced. The Bose Wave system accepts the data from the Bose Wave iPod system in 24 bit streams that are unimpeded. These streams are tailor made for the Bose circuitry Acoustic Wave system and deliver a balanced sound.
If songs or tunes are “normalized” at different decibels through the iPod, then the Bose Wave iPod system compensates for lost bit streams with limiters. Limiters are placed in the circuitry of a Bose Acoustic Wave system to make up a difference in sound from one song to the next. It automatically, through chips on the docking station and through the Acoustic Wave system limits “white noise” from coming through the system to provide you a rich sound.
The last process that integrates the Bose iPod system is a defined peak controller that handles internal clipping of sound to keep the speakers balanced. This regulates the sound from the iPod and includes a stereo enhancer module to keep the sound full and rich. The Bose Wave iPod also comes with accessory cords that plug in from the docking station to the unit. The Bose Wave II unit also can have the integrated docking station even if the module can be separate from the unit with a five-foot cord so you don't lose sound quality.
