Connect a BOSE Acoustimass 5 Subwoofer to my Kenwood receiver?
I tried connecting my BOSE Acoustimass 5 powered sub to my Kenwood receiver, but it didn't produce much bass and there was a constant humming from the sub.
Is this subwoofer meant to be compatible with most receivers? Could I possibly have had it connected wrong? And if so, what is the proper input to connect it to?

An Acoustimass bass module (it's not a subwoofer) is passive, meaning it doesn't have an amplifier in it. So, you have to connect it to the speaker out terminals on the receiver using speaker wire. You then hook up the satellite speakers to the speaker out terminals on the bass module. A crossover (filter) in the bass module sends the low frequencies to the bass module drivers and the mid/high frequencies to the speaker out terminals (and on to the satellites).
If you used speaker wires to connect the output of the receiver to the module, maybe you hooked them up to the output terminals by mistake. That or maybe the module is blown out.
