What TV to buy?Please help?

I want to buy 2 LED TVs.
I am looking for 55 inch in the living room and another 40 inch for my bed room. Please help and any recs are heartly welcome.

1. 55 inch tv. Budget 1000-1500 dollars. I prefer sony bravia. How about samsung or LG?
It would be used for watching movies through connection to laptop, Play station 3 gaming, DVD movies and TV Cable connection.
I am connecting it to Bose speakers, So dont mind if it has weak sound system.

2. 40 inch TV for my bed room. Mainly would be used to connect it to my laptop and watching movies through blue ray. Built in wifi would really help as there would not be any cable connection to this TV. Budget would be 500-1000 dollars.

Please suggest what brands and If I have to wait till november to save money on thanks giving offers.
2. Should I buy refurbished TV with warranty?
3. Should I buy extended warranty?

Thanks once again.

I wouldn't recommend buying tvs refurbished - generally the reason it was refurbished isn't permanently solved when it is refurbished. Usually it is a temporary fix. Also the warranties generally have fine print that will bite you in the butt. If you trust the warranty and get a good deal for a refurb - go ahead but otherwise I would stay away from them.

Extended warranties are a good idea with expensive electronics but be careful of the cost. Many sales reps will say "Sure it costs $250 for the extended warranty but for us to fix it out of warranty - we charge $250 plus $15 an hour" Makes the warranty seem practical and responsible BUT the extended warranty is from who you bought it from - NOT the tv manufacturer. Also the warranty generally starts the day you buy it; not after the original warranty is up So if you get a good deal such as 7 years extended warranty for $200 dollars, It is probably a good buy, but don't get suckered into an extra $250 dollars for 3 years warranty.

When you are looking for tv's, my biggest advice would to read what the customer reviews are saying about it and then go look for yourself. 97% of tvs look good when you see their specs but then when you see the picture - you wonder how such a "great" tv could have so much static, be so washed out, and have a picture worse than your last tv. So look at the tv's in person before you buy anything.
