Is it fine to connect Bose speakers & Bass system to LCD TV with an adaptable cord? Without a proper receiver?

It is Bose Companion 3 series II. I heard that it might be heating up the TV and it will shorten the life of it. Is it true??

The only problem will be controlling the volume. If your TV has a headphone jack, you are all set. Just get a 1/8 inch stereo to RCA cable. If you don't have a headphone jack, and the TV does not have a "variable audio output", you can try the audio output on the TV, but it will be at full volume all the time. If the Bose speakers have a way to control the volume, it will work.

The bottom line is this...computer speakers are really not meant to be connected directly to a TV. If you are not happy with your TV's speakers, the best thing to do is get a home theater receiver and speakers. They are designed for that purpose and the volume will be easily controlled.
