best tv for home entertainment system?
My new house has a living room of about 16x20 I have a Bose surround sound system with Onkyo reciever. I want to replace my 32" flat screen tv with an LCD or plasma. What would be a good size for this room, I am thinking about a 42" or 47" and what do I need to look for in a tv, what features? I do not trust the electronic salespeople. They just want to sell the most expensive model they have. One with built in surround sound I would think would be a waste of money, with my Bose.
Plasma would be a better option for you than LCD. Plasma product great black and color levels for viewing movies. 47-50" Plasma would also be a great size range for your viewing distance. In an LCD or Plasma, you want to look at features like:
Resolution (720p or 1080p is a necessity)
Contrast Ratio: (no less than 5000:1 for plasma)
Surround sound isn't a necessity for you but many TV's include this anyway.
Built-in Tuners: You'll want to make sure the HD tuner is built-in to your TV so you don't have to purchase one.
You'll want to make sure you have atleast 2 HDMI inputs which are the highest possible quality inputs.
Some people look for extra features like picture in picture.
