Noise canceling software?! HELP!!?
I'm in the middle of my final exams for my degree at the moment and typically the neighbours have just started doing building work... a nice banging scraping sound echoing through my room. ARGH!!
Basically, does anyone know of a computer program that will cancel out background noise - I'm after something like the active noise canceling headphones produced by Bose (and others), but as a computer program that will take sound from my laptops microphone, invert it and play it back through my headphones. preferably freeware, but I'll consider paying!
I've tried earplugs, but the noise continues.

Interesting idea, but I have never heard of one. And I don't think it would work with loud construction noises. If most of the sound is coming through a closed window, and not straight through the wall, hang up a thick blanket. Then put in your earplugs and play some music at high volume. That should help a little bit.
