How should i optimize my Bose Companion 3 Speakers?

I have them hooked up to my laptop in my dorm. Right now, the woofer is below my desk, and the two satellite speakers are right next the the laptop, at about chest height. Any suggestions on how to optimize their position for the best sound?

Try to get them about ear level and the sub in a corner(under the desk).
