Upgrading bose acousticmass5 -PS3?

Hi everyone!!
I have a bose Acousticmass 5 speaker( sub included) set with a Denon Amp PMA 898R( not much given on net about it), it was bought by my dad around 6 years back from dubai. i recently connected it with my PS3. Now i would want another set of 2 speaker ( not bose but something equivalent or near bose quality, would not like to compromise much. ) and a new amp which has optical digital and HDMI ports, since the denon amp has none of these features.

PS: i have also heard while buying any amp one has to check the impedance of the speakers ( please check, cause i cannot find the impedance)

- While suggesting the speakers please advise which ones to put on rear and which ones in front

-Acoustic-Mass5 also known as cube jewel box speaker.please guide!

Hmmm... you're best bet may be to use the existing Denon and Bose as a slave to a new AVR. Get an AVR with preamp outputs and use those outputs to connect to the Aux input on the Denon. Keep all the Bose stuff on that amp. Then get new speakers and attach them to the new AVR. Something like this... http://usa.denon.com/us/product/pages/Product-Detail.aspx?CatId=f234eea1-3300-4537-8f59-f6cd2f3441d6&ProductId=b44a517c-7e15-493c-8373-dbd2a1f57f63

You really don't want, "near bose quality". That would require you to look for something pretty crappy in an effort to get something almost as bad as Bose. Bose is only respected among the uninformed public, among the audio community they are a big joke. They are not likely to give you much information, like the impedance but if you are going to slave the existing Denon and Bose to a new AVR it won't matter anyway since the new speakers will have their own amplification.

Look at Aperion Audio, http://www.aperionaudio.com/catalog/Speakers,19.aspx There are numerous others, all much better than Bose. Just stay away from the typical Japanese brands like Sony and the Korean like Samsung, these are the only options that have even a chance of being as bad as Bose. The only Asian company I would consider would be Usher Audio out of Taiwan, they are actually very good.

Once you get a nice AVR and some decent speakers and you slave your existing Denon and Bose to that system you will likely find yourself disconnecting the Bose. It will just contaminate the sound and you'll be better off without it.
