Can someone recommend a good AV receiver for under $2000?
I am looking to buy a new receiver for my parent's anniversary. They recently bought a 52" Aquos, and a Sharp Blue ray player, but they still have a 480 DVD recorder, as well as an old VCR that they will use. They currently have a Bose 5.1 system, but I really think that the ability to upgrade might be a good idea. Finally my mother is really into Internet radio, so some connection that would stream Internet radio would be nice.
To sum all of this up I think I will need a receiver with 3 or more HDMI inputs, as well as several S video and composite audio inputs. It will need to have up-converting ability for the 480 signals, as well. It needs to have a radio tuner of some kind (HD or regular) as well as the ability to receive a streaming Internet radio signal. Finally it also should be able to output at least 6.1 surround.
NOW HERE'S THE CATCH........ I need all of this for under $2000.
Any ideas? Please help I am completely stumped on this one.
Well I have a Yamaha RX-V3800. It was $1400 a year ago. Powerful: 140 Watts per channel X 7 (980 watts total output). Connectivity: 3 HDMIs in, 1 out. Up-scales everything to HDMI so you only have to have 1 HDMI cable running to your TV. Has all of the HDMI decoders for blu-ray playing. 2000 channels of built in internet radio. Networkable to play music off of 10+ computers on your network. XM ready. Ipod ready. Voted one of the best AV Receivers under $5K.
Now they have the revised version of this receiver which adds another HDMI out, another HDMI in, bluetooth connectivity, HD radio, and Sirius Satillite Ready. Called the RX-V3900. MSRP $1899.
If you buy my 3800, I would certainly pay the difference to get that 3900. Its SWEET! I love Yamaha!
