I want to buy a North American audio system. If I move abroad, can I convert 220-240V 50Hz to 110V 60Hz?
I know you can convert the voltage pretty easy with a transformer (I've got a few already), BUT what about the cycle? Will it matter if I run a North American desktop computer in Europe say, or a home entertainment system such as the Bose Lifestyle system?
Yes, for the voltage.
Buy a converter set. Available at WalMart or similar.
As for the cycles: Computers and most electronic equipment runs on DC which is internally converted. So there shouldn't be a problem either. Used to be, though, with turntables for the old vinyl records. But even they could be adjusted.
