192/256 kps is nearly equal to cd quality without expensive hi-fi systems?

I don't have a $1500 theater system, but just want to know b/c I want to know the ideal rate to down convert songs to, without losing (major) sound quality...I do have a idea that 192kps is ideal.
Now I have a bose cinemate (good system but with crappy rca connection)..barely could tell the difference of a 192 kps song vs cd (tool- vicarious) im trying to find songs with bigger hi and low points to discern this though.

Yes,

192 is OK.
But if you want NO LOSS: you would need "LOSSLESS" files: which is FLAC files which is the pinnacle of digital streaming for music these days... and have become a standard. So lets say that you like your original CD's quality: Then you'd have to rip it as a FLAC file... which windows media player WMP will play. Average FLAC files range from 20-35megabytes... which is sorta large.

Next best would be 320kbps. 320kbps is very good.... average files of these are 8megabytes.... even though it is quite a bit smaller than FLAC... they will yeild sound quality close to that of FLACs. Most people cannot tell the difference between the 2 especially if your system is not studio quality...

as far as connections:
RCA connections on most digital amps [most amps these days are all digital] have bad rca [which is analogue] connections.

So if you want good quality music from your rca connection,
Try www.audioengineusa.com : Look at the Audioengine A2 or A5 powered speakers. They are very reasonably priced - the A2 is $199 on site.
They have a near audiophile quality RCA connection.
Your music will then sound great with "Near Studio" Quality output... with FLAC files.

Hope this helps!
