Skullcandy? Or Bose? Or Monster?
I'm trying to consider whether I want the ibeats ($110) or skullcandy 50/50 bud ($65) or Bose mobile in-ear headphones ($80)it's $20 off at the moment or Bose mobile headset (MIE2I) ($140) considering performance, comfortness and design. Btw, I listen to all kind of music as well and own an iPhone
When you're looking to buy a high quality product, one way to gauge if a product is actually worth of the praise it gets or if it is all hype and no quality, is to look at the professional market. Professionals have to use quality products that exceed the quality most consumers can afford, as such companies like that typically carry over their quality into their consumer products.
As a professional videographer I can tell you that neither Skullcandy, Bose, or Monster headphones are used in the professional world, because they lack the quality that is required. As such I would not recommend any of those companies products.
If you truly want excellent quality at an affordable price I would look into either Shure or Sennheiser. Both of these companies are very well known in the professional world as having exceptional quality. I personally lean more towards Sennheiser for their headphones, however you can very easily spend $500 on some of their flagship earbuds.
Sennheiser makes a pair of earbuds around $120 that people absolutely rave about. I've listed the amazon link below. Also, take notice that these are among the highest rated earbuds listed on amazon.com and rate higher than similarly priced Klipsch, Bose, and Shure (Not that Bose is anywhere near the quality workmanship of the others)

Take a look, I bet for the money won't find any others in that price range consistently rated as high. Thats the reason why the production house uses Sennheiser monitor headphones almost exclusively.
