Are the Bose true say what they are?!?!?!?

I was thinking about buying a Bose cine-mate gs series 2 but the price just blew me away, but I'm still thinking about buying it. After some research, I heard about these articles that explain how the Bose are so awesome and another one that show that their speakers are just regular like others and use advertisement and high cost to show high quality. So are the Bose are for supreme quality or just like any other speakers that are 5x more expensive? And are their any other surround sound speakers that you would recommend, no DVD player needed but prefer an HDMI input for small room

From the answers so far, you can see that there are people who like how Bose sounds, and others who don't. You can have 2 people standing right next to each other listening to the same Bose system and they could have completely different opinions. It's all about what YOU prefer, period.
My opinion is that I've heard the 321 system, which is the same speakers as the cinemate, and I thought the sound was really smooth, and it had warmth that I enjoyed, but it was lacking realistic depth. Other Bose systems that I've heard also didn't sound realistic, but I still found it pleasant to listen to..my opinion.
With that said, Ive heard other systems that have more depth and sound more realistic and cost much less. For example, you can get a polk rm6750 5.1 speaker system and a nice pioneer surround receiver with your hdmi, all for ~$400 brand new, and it would sound better than any Bose system on the market.
