how to tell the difference in audion quality?

i recently bought some bose ae2s and i dont know how to tell the difference in audioon quality vs my old sony earbuds. im starting to feel like i made a bad purchase. please help me how to tell the difference in audio quality. my old heaadphones are ex earbuds that are in ear. and also are the sony noise cancelling headphones that cost 170 dollars better than the bose ae2?

The only thing that matters is how you feel about the difference. If the Bose sound no better than your old Sonys then they're no better, and nothing anyone says will change that. My advice to you would be to return the Bose and buy something else.

There's a wealth of information and informative reviews available at http://www.head-fi.org that you may find useful in deciding which headphones would be suitable. If you do a search for Bose AE2 you'll get a ton of suggestions for alternatives....

Personally, I would rather look for closed-back headphones with good passive noise isolation than spend money for active cancellation circuitry. I don't want my headphones messing with my music! If I were you, I'd be looking at Sennheiser, Shure, Audio-Technica,...

Good luck with your search!
