Help! Trying to connect DVD/VCR+Bose+SAT+DVR recorder to tv?

My aunt has a Toshiba big screen tv (no HD) with basic cable. She wants to connect to the tv
* A satellite box (Dish)
* A DVD/VCR combo (Toshiba)
* A DVD recorder (Sony)
* A Bose sound system
My aunt purchased the DVD recorder last and before we tried to connect it to the tv, everything else (which had already been connected to the tv) worked perfectly. We attempted to follow the directions in the DVD rec. package, but each option the booklet offered produced nothing.
She, her husband and I (and both our mothers!) have spent many a long night trying to figure out how to make this work.
We are pretty sure it can be done, but we're not sure HOW to do it.
Now all the connections have been put back to normal and our next try will be to disconnect everything and start from scratch. *Insert hair pulling here*
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It really depends on how many video inputs your TV has, if it has at least three , you should have no problems.
I have a similar set-up for my home theater, so it should work for yours also.
The satellite box is hooked up like it normally would, from the cable to the satellite box to the TV via coaxial cable.
Next the DVD/VCR combo, I have the DVD player hooked up to the TV via the progressive scan cable for the video signal only, for the audio signal I have it hooked up to the sound system (video input 2) via the digital coaxial cable, if your DVD player does not have this feature your can use the RCA cable(red & white ). Maybe at this time you might want to try to see if your DVD player is working alright before hooking up your DVD recorder.
Next the DVD recorder(I have cable not satellite), used a splitter for the signal so I can record one channel , while watching another, but from the cable to the DVD recorder to the TV via the S-video cable for the video signal only , agian for the audio signal , I have it connected to the sound system (video input 1) via the RCA (red and white ) cables.
Hope this works for you.
