Whats wrong with my Bose Companion 5 speakers?!?

everythings plugged in fine (i have a mac btw) and in the audio midi setup, the speaker outputs are bose usb audio
but for some reason the speakers wont make a sound, music, youtube, etc..
and my touch control pad thing doesnt work, controlling volume and standby/on

Try unplugging the usb connection, then power down the computer. Reconnect the plug into the USB port. Allow the computer to stay powered off for a minimum of 5 minutes or overnight. Then power the computer back up and check the audio midi set up. Look for the speaker icon. You should see a box on the bottom in itunes stating multiple speakers. Click on the box and see what is checked. If nothing is checked no sound.

I hope this helps.
