What are better for audio editing, Bose Around Ear or Beats by Dre Solo?
Im going away to college for Film Production and will have to edit sound and music. I need a pair of headphones for about 250$ that aren't massive on my ears. I don;t want anythign bigger then the Bose around ears. I have also heard that Bose have a processor in them which makes it so you never get a true sound.
Let me know thanks!
Yes, you are correct. Bose uses dsp: digital signal processing to force their speakers to have their so called pleasing sound : audio "signature" that they so brag about all the time.
This dsp will NOT give you accurate sound! Will not be good for your use: studio monitors.
They are ok for personal, lounging use only!
So please allow me to expose the secrets: Bose is a company- business to make $$. They design their products with a audience demographic of: the general public (which have simple needs, don't really need accurate, precise, quality audiophile sound) ... They just want something that looks good. As for sound, most people doesn't know the importance of accurate sound and fidelity...
So... The fellows at Bose knows this: to be successful, they must design something with pleasing design and sound --- at the lowest cost possible: then market themselves as being the best in the consumer industry (which they are definitely Not).
As for their challenge of pleasing sound... But at the same time, using the cheapest parts and cheapest manufacturing processes.... This is no great feat- and I'll admit, they did a good job... By using cheap parts and then cut corners in manufacturing---then dsp and equalize to force the cheaply manufactured stuff--force them to sound pleasing. No accuracy no sound fidelity though- cuz to get this, one must use sophistocated manufacturing steps and quality parts.
Then- they spend millions apon millions: advertising: telling everyone that they are special and best... To cover up ppls idea and facts: that they are not the best.
Suggestions?? Monster-beats also use similar manufacturing / marketing tactics... After all, they are the same makers of expensive "snake oil" cables. But I'll say they are better than Bose.
But I'd look at AKG, Sennheiser, Grado. Which the pros use for studios. Even yamaha and Sony are better choices for your needs.
Hope this helps!
