Nubee needs help with Amps and system?
Hi - I do not profess to know much about stereo equipment I have a Pioneer receiver model # VSX-1015TX I have (4) sets of Bose ceiling speakers in my new house and I have a Cambridge Soundworks surround system 2 front 2 rear and 1 center speaker connected to my pioneer receiver. I also have (2) Cambridge Soundworks ensemble sub woofers (not connected - don't know how to connect them) When I connect the ceiling speakers to another receiver I have you can barely hear them. Some one told me I need an amplifier for the (4) sets of speakers - do I and how do I cionnect them? Also how do I connect the subwoofers? Thanks!
I assume your subwoofer is not powered, so with your bose system, you would connect the speakers into the subwoofer and from the subwoofer connect into your power amplifier. Depending on how loud and clear it will be, would be determine by the watts of your power amplifier or receiver. So if you have anything that is about 60 watts per channel or lower you will hear very weak sounds and may need to turn your volume higher. You probably want something 100 watts or higher per channel to drive that bose system because you need enough power to drive the subwoofer and the cubes combined. If you just remove your subwoofer and connect the bose cubes directly to the power amp or receiver you will be fine and just get a separate powered subwoofer, something that you can plug into for external power so it won't drain power from your amplifier. Hope this helps!
