Really, any modern day receiver will do a good job.
The new ones are HD compatible - as they have HDMI in/out.
Bose accoustimass series have an internal DSP [inside the Bass module] that takes the amplified signal from any receiver and applies this DSP so the little cubes sound decent.
Pioneer and Onkyo are popular brands that are used to demo lots of Bose Accoustimass systems and they sound pretty good. These brands also have a good range of receivers that fit most budgets.
