Bose Acoustimass subwoofer stopped working, any ideas?
My Acoustimass 10 III system's subwoofer started to make a vibrating sound while the system was turned off. The only thing I did was disconnect the system from the power source which stopped the vibration but now the subwoofer stopped working completely.
No. It can't be a fuse. A blown fuse would just silence it completely. This sounds like an amplifier problem, "motorboating" before it failed completely. From what I understand the bass module (it's not a subwoofer) contains the amp for the whole shebang. It's likely that the whole unit will be need to be replaced and that will be expensive given the prices that that company charges unless it's still under warranty. Personally I don't think much of Bose products. Were I you I'd get something better (like a Polk, Paradigm, Onkyo, Yamaha system or switch to separates - speakers, receiver, players) and toss that Bose stuff into a dumpster.
