Whats a great sound system to get?
i been looking around with a friend whos been trying to find a good tv and sound system. the sound system that has been mostly advertised everywhere was the bose 5.1 surround sound system. i tried out their demos and it was amazing, but it is 2000 dollars and if hes going to spend that much he has to be sure that it is worth it and if there isnt something better, which could be alteast under 3000.
What sound system do any of you recommend?

i told him the insignia from best buy was the best deal(42 inch 1080p, with a blue ray player all under 1000 dollars) do any of you have this?
Bose is probably the worst sound system to get. You can easily duplicate the sound of the $2000 Bose system for under $1000 from any number of manufacturers. Bose is all hype and marketing and very poor sound for the dollar. Have you ever seen any reviews on Bose systems? That's because Bose will not allow them. They don't want to be compared to anything else. Bose speakers have no really low bass at all, and too much mid-bass to try and make up for the lack of real bass. They are also week on the high end and very middy. I'd suggest you go out and listen to some systems in your price range and learn all you can about what sound is supposed to sound like. If you think Bose is good you will be totally blown away when you hear proper sound.
Don't take the word of salesmen, learn for yourself. Two AV (audio/video) forums I go to are AVS forum and Home Theater Shack. Also visit the manufacturer web sites. Then go to Amazon.com and compare prices.If you (or he) are going to spend $3000 on a HT sound system it should blow you right out of the room. Spend some time learning about the equipment you are going to spend your hard earned dollars on.
$1000 for a TV and Blu-ray player is a reasonable price. Not top of the line but reasonable. Again learn about the equipment.
