BOSE 901 and Integra DTR 50.1 receiver?
I would like to purchase a pair of Bose 901 with the eq. I would like to know if i can run my Integra DTR 50.1 receiver with these which has preamp analog outputs for 7.1 channel. I have bose 301's and 201's as well as the center and would like to round off my system with these 901's. I am looking at hooking the 901's to the front channels use an external amp connected through front out jacks on the receiver. My question is will the rest of the channels still work with the front channels. I want to run my system as a 7.1. So in the nut shell my question is will all this work together as surround sound?
In the old days many receivers had preamp loops but that's almost completely gone these days. In your case you plan to use external amplifiers anyway so you can insert the Bose EQ between the preamp outputs and the external amplifiers. Basically you are using the DTR 50.1 as a preamp/processor for the mains and using it as a receiver for the surrounds, center etc. I have a friend that uses a Denon Receiver in the same way with the preamp outputs passing through the active crossover EQ of a set of Audio Artistry "Beethovens" and it works great. You should have no problems. No offense but it's a bit of a quality mismatch to use such a nice receiver with Bose speakers but if that's what you like then that's ok.
