Is this a good deal for car amps?

So essentially I have a GMC Yukon and two 10' Memphis Subs that I want to hook up to my car. I got the subs from a friend so all I need to do is get an amplifier so they work. I went to a local shop near me and was told in order to hook up my Subs and get my Bose door speakers louder (there the upgraded version from the factory) I need to get 2 separate amplifiers.

I was told I need:

1 SSL Audio 4 Ch. 1600 Watt Amp

&

1 Planet Audio 1 Ch. (monoblock) 1000 Watt amplifier

So first question is do I need both amplifiers or is the guy trying to rip me off (why wouldnt a 4 Ch. amp work for everything?) and is $550 a reasonable price? The place that I'm using is a little sketchy so I dont think I should be paying more for labor or anything.

Ill try and answer any questions you guys have but I have pretty much told you guys everything I was told by the guy who worked there.

2 amps would be ideal, but you could certainly use one and get decent results.
For one, you may not NEED your door speakers to be louder if you're not planning on driving these 10's to their limits.
Just an amp for the subs might be all you'd want.

I set up a simple system for my nephew in a grand prix and the stock speakers run by the head unit was enough to keep up with a 600w rms amp powering a couple JL 12's. It wasn't the greatest blend for sound quality, but for someone that isn't used to hearing top quality sound it worked fine.

Personally I would avoid SSL (Sound Storm), this is among the lower quality brands available. Planet Audio is a sibling company, but they do tend to produce better stuff than Sound Storm.
That 1600w rating on the soundstorm is probably 4 or 5x what the amp is actually capable of.
This "1600w" Sound Storm (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23060_SoundStorm+-SSL-+EV4.1600.html) uses a pair of 40A fuses and would be lucky to produce 400w rms.

Not sure on the Planet amp. Here's a mono advertised as 1000w (max) that only has a 25A fuse. It MIGHT give you 300w of usable power. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_25328_Planet+Audio+TQ1000M.html

I would need to know specifically what model amps they are trying to sell you in order to determine if it's a fair deal or not.

They're going to get something for installation I assume? Otherwise it doesn't look to me like $550's going to be reasonable.
