i have a 1997 nissan maxima with the bose system. the other day the stock radio turned on but no sound?
then about 15 min later the sound came on. today i bought a pioneer deck bought all the wiring harnesses and the antenna adapter hooked it which ive done a hundred times it woked for 2 min then no sound again. hasnt had sound all day
1997 Maxima Bose system uses four (five if you have sub woofer) separate amplifiers located in the speaker enclosures. Since you've replaced the head unit, there are two things to check.
There is a separate fuse used to supply power to the amps.There may be corrosion in the fuse box or the contacts may be sprung and are to longer tight on the fuse.
When the radio is turned on, a relay is energized to provide power to the amps. Contacts in relay may be burned.
While you're getting no sound, try wiggling the fuses, and tap gently on the relays to see if you can isolate the problem.
