would you recommend me to buy a bose home theater system or a 5.1 home theater system for a cheaper price?
Bose is not a favorite. They sue any magazine that tries to review their speakers, they advertise to the elderly and retired demographic and they have been caught doing demos and not telling people they have $5,000 worth of amplifiers and equalizers between the source and the cube speakers.
Dont get me wrong - Bose does more with a 4-inch tweeter than anybody. But lots of problems are solved having a separate tweeter and mid-range in a wooden box instead of a plastic cube.
I tend to prefer you buy speakers from a real speaker company - inexpensive 5.1 sets start at about $500. Then buy a AV receiver with lots of spare connections like an Onkyo TX-SR receiver that start at about $380.
Do NOT buy the crappy 'systems' that put the DVD player and receiver in 1 box with cheap attached plastic speakers. Or you will be back here whining about how you cannot hook things up to it. The $299 price tag is a clue you are giving up something.
