Would a Yamaha RX-V659 reciever do well with a Bose 5.1 speaker system?
I wanted to buy a good reciver that can give me 2 speaker options in the sense I can play music outside and inside or one and not the other. My entertainment area is going to be bright white and the only speakers that come in bright white are Bose speakers. Would this setup work well.
That hissing sound that you hear is NOT harmonic distortion. OMG what some people are led to believe!
Harmonic distortion is the tendency of all electronics and speakers to not only produce the pure sine wave that is fed to it, but to contribute some notes of their own, usually at a multiple of the frequency being fed to it. (when a 1000 Hz sine wave is fed, the device adds 2000 Hz, 4000, etc.) Since a 2000 Hz tone is one octave above, we don't hear it all that well, unless the percentages get large. It is sometimes used as a benchmark for good design, but it is only one of many parameters involved.
So many good answers - Bose is overpriced, over-hyped, and they have no respect from professionals. Do try to find something else - I would paint something else rather than use Bose....
