why do my bose speakers turn off?
first of im not radio, stereo, speakers, or any audio savvy so please make it retard simple
i have bose 161 bookshelf speaks they are 100watts each and a sony str dh100 ---90 watts x 2 (stereo) into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.09% THD
my right speaker turns off first all the time .then a little while later my other speaker turns of.
then when i lower the volume on the radio to zero and put it back up both the speaker start working
It's the amplifier in the receiver that is shutting down, not the speakers. The most likely reason for this is overheating. And overheating is usually caused by one of two things: Insufficient ventilation or a short in the speaker wiring. Make sure that the receiver is getting enough air. It should have at least two inches of space above any ventilation holes in its top cover. If you have it inside a cabinet of some kind, try operating it out in the open. If this doesn't help, then inspect your speaker wires for damage to the insulation or frayed wires at either end. If you still have a problem, the receiver is likely in need of repair or replacement.
